Our Cause, IBC
We avidly support the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Center at MDAnderson. We’ve decided to increase our “off the top” donations from 10% to 20%. 10% just isn’t enough.
Here’s the story.
Do you see the lady on the right? That’s Michele.
My Stepmother, the love of my Dad’s life and Mother to my little brother, Justin & little sis, Carley. We lost her to IBC July 27th 2007. She fought her battle for 18 months, and at one point, was “cancer free” after a masectemy and 7 months of grueling chemo. Then, in February, it spread to her bones, lymph nodes and finally her spinal fluid. There was no way to stop it. In May, they admitted her into hospice at MDAnderson and gave her 6 weeks. She made it until July, in a nursing home. My dad & the kids visited her every day, knowing her time was short.
I was working a lot and taking care of my own family and couldn’t or didn’t really help out at all. In fact I didn’t even go see her in her last days because I was too “busy”. I know she’s in a better place, but I can help now. God gave me the ability to connect with others and find revenue streams in any business model.
Ironically, the day she passed, my former employer served me with a document to sign or get fired. That was the day this company, and the website was born. Written on a paper place-mat & napkin at lunch with a friend (before I knew of her death).
After the funeral, I got to work.
Now, here we are, a few days from launch. For Cause. Your dollars help save lives.
Local Reach is built to give.
I want to give thanks to God, my Dad, Mom & Stepdad Joe & the people who have supported me through this effort emotionally, financially & technically. Thank you for being so patient and checking on my existence. It’s still a long way to go, but thank you…..
To everyone else, wish us luck, jump on board and Let’s Roll!
Let us encourage one another. (Hebrews 10: 25)
